Help Burmese Refugees:
Burmese refugees are most deserving of your Zakat. Dubbed ‘boat people’ by the world’s media, the minority Rohingya people of Burma are at the center of a mass migration crisis which was first identified early in 2015.
Persecuted for being Muslim, they have fled in their tens of thousands to Southeast Asia. Some have ended up forgotten people, living in poverty in refugee camps. At the mercy of human traffickers, others have been abandoned at sea in poorly maintained or capsizing boats. Those who survive the journey to reach distant shores find themselves shunned by unsympathetic nations and left to drift, with no where to go, on the open seas. Their story is one of a daily battle to survive. Their suffering is unimaginable.
Stateless ‘Boat People’ Need Your Help:
Donations for Burmese refugees are desperately needed right now. More than 25,000 refugees poured out of Burma in just the first three months of last year. The United Nations has described the refugees as the most persecuted in the world. Considered refugees even in their own country and oppressed for their faith, most handed over every dime they had to unscrupulous human traffickers. They were promised a safe passage across the Strait of Malacca and Andaman Sea, but what they got instead was a new terror. Their journey to a new life has had no end.
Crammed into small boats, refugees made desperate attempts to reach Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. But they were not always welcome. The world could only watch in horror, via televised news reports, as authorities in some countries pushed abandoned boats further out to sea, seemingly not caring if the human beings on board lived or died.
Suffering in Refugee Camps:
For those who safely make it to dry land, the agony goes on. In refugee camps in neighboring countries they are living in poverty, lacking the very basics in life. Finding enough food to sustain them is a daily struggle. Many go to sleep hungry.
If hunger wasn’t enough, disease and ill health are daily threats. Some have died, while others have been left disabled and unable to properly care for themselves or their families. Medical treatment is urgently required.
Your Zakat Donation Will Save Lives:
A Zakat payment, made once a year under Islamic law, is used for charity and religious purposes. As a non profit charity dedicated to helping Muslims in need, Ummah Relief International is a great channel to show your support for humanitarian work with Burmese refugees. A small amount of what you have saved over the past year could go a long way to preserving human life and giving people stricken by poverty a chance to build a future.
Sadaqah Donations Make A Real Difference:
If your Zakat payment is already committed to another cause but you still feel you would like to help Burmese refugees, you can make a Sadaqah donation quickly and easily through Ummah Relief International. A small amount can go a long way to relieving suffering, and every donation is put to the best possible use. We ensure your money is spent on those who are in the most desperate need.
